Suspect identified, arrested after Monkey Junction bank robbery

The suspect eluded law enforcement, but only briefly.

MONKEY JUNCTION — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who robbed the Sun Trust bank in Money Junction this morning.

According to the Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO) the Sun Trust bank at 5201 S. College Road was robbed this morning. The suspect, Dean Hansen, is a 56-year-old white male. Hansen was driving a silver pick-up truck with a paper temporary or dealer plate.

According to NHSCO Spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer, Hansen has been arrested — with assistance from the Pender County Sheriff’s Office — and charged with armed robbery. No injuries were reported during the robbery.
