WILMINGTON — Plans for a high-density residential development have been submitted in lieu of a formerly proposed Lidl grocery store located at 4301 & 4355 South 17th Street.
The developer of the property has submitted a rezoning request to change the zoning from community business (CB) to multi-family medium-high-density (MF).
The total acreage of the site is just under 9-acres, and some 209 residential units are being proposed for the location. The proposed buildings on the site include townhomes, multi-family buildings (apartments), and a clubhouse.
Plans for the Arbor Commons apartments call for 129 one-bedroom units, and 80 two-bedroom units for a total of 289 bedrooms.
The German Grocery Store Lidl has been planned for the location since 2016, but it appears plans have changed. The developer for the new project is listed as LG John Berry Drive LLC, out of Raleigh.
The Planning Commission will hear from the developer during its August meeting.
