LELAND—Ocean Gate Plaza in Leland could open as early as October and as late as November.
With at least four tenants expected, the project is running behind its initial opening date of late June.

Dunkin’ Donuts, Hibachi Bistro, and Bridgewater Wines have all signed on as tenants of the new Leland development. Originally scheduled to open in late June, according to a Coldwell Banker April news release, the project has been pushed back. It is now set to open to the public this in the fall.
“90 to 120 days would be a realistic date because all the outside work is really done,” Hank Adams, the development’s commercial listing agent for Coldwell Banker, said.
The remaining tenant or tenants – depending on how remaining square footage is divided -have yet to sign on board. With offers on the table, Adams said Ocean Gate Plaza is still shopping for the right fit.
“We’ve got offers on them but we haven’t accepted them yet,” Adams said. Ocean Gate Plaza could combine two 1,500-square-foot units into one larger 3,000 square-foot-unit, nestled between tenants already on board.
“It would make a nice centerpiece,” Adams said. “That’s what we’re trying to work on.”
Located at 1132 New Pointe Boulevard off Highway 17 in Leland, the construction of Ocean Gate began in January.
