WILMINGTON — Fans of the movie “Pitch Perfect” will be able to catch some homegrown a cappella talent for free next month.
The second annual ACAPPELLOOZA concert, hosted by University of North Carolina Wilmington’s own Seabelles, will feature 10 performing university a cappella groups from across the state, including University of North Carolina Greensboro, NC State and Appalachian State University. UNCW’s hip hop dance organization – Physical Graffeeti – will also perform.
It’s a good time to catch the UNCW Seabelles, who have been rising through the international ranks. Last year, the Seabelles competed in the International Competition of Collegiate A cappella, traveling to Tallahassee, Fla., to compete. In February, the team will compete again, this time taking on competitors in the Raleigh-Durham area.
ACAPELLOZZA will be held on Feb. 3, starting at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by the UNCW Student Government Association, and is completely free and open to the public.
Tickets are available at the Kenan Auditorium box office, which is open from Monday to Friday, noon to 6 p.m.
