Update: 10:30 a.m. — According to the Wilmington Police Department, the situation has been resolved without further incident. The suspect is in custody. This story will be updated as more information is made available.
WILMINGTON — Wilmington police are asking people to avoid the area of Houston Moore Terrace as they negotiate with an armed suspect who has barricaded himself into an apartment after firing shots ar officers.
Police Spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron said officers responded to a weapons incident at around 6 a.m. this morning. Sometime after that incident the man allegedly fired shots at the officers.
At this time, police are only saying there are negotiators on scene and they are trying to determine the circumstances.
The suspect has not been named. There is no word on whether there is anyone else with the suspect.
