Craig Bloszinsky will be the next Mayor of Kure Beach, 2 newcomers join Town Council

KURE BEACH — There’s a new Mayor in the Town of Kure Beach after Tuesday’s municipal election. Craig Bloszinsky, previously Mayor Pro Tem, will take the place of Emilie Swearingen.

Swearingen decided not to run for reelection as mayor, instead choosing to run for Town Council — a seat she did not win Tuesday night.

Bloszinsky was elected with a total of 450 votes compared to his competitor, Chris Hald’s 101 out of the 554 total votes cast.

With Bloszinsky moving into the mayor’s seat, and current Kure Beach Commissioner Jim Dugan choosing not to run for reelection, two spaces on the Town Council were up for grabs.

Newcomers John Ellen and Allen Oliver will each serve on the Town Council after winning 26.6 percent and 25.54 percent of the votes respectively.
