WILMINGTON — The New Anthem Beer Project is celebrating its one-year anniversary with an all-day, all-night event of beer and music at the Brooklyn Arts Center.

Co-owner and brewmaster Aaron Skiles said he wanted to do something special – and fitting – for the anniversary.

“You can always go to a release party at the brewery and drink the beer and all that, but we wanted to do something with some good music and make it an event,” Skiles said. “We had some music at our grand opening, too, so it’s a New Anthem thing.”

The first part of the event kicks off at noon and takes place in the courtyard at the BAC, a rarity since the space is not usually open to the public. Musical acts Massive Grass and Folkstone Stringband will perform and the Vittles food truck will be onsite. No tickets are required for the daytime festivities.

“The daytime event is going to be great. It’ll be 78’F and sunny, it’s will be family friendly,” Skiles said.

The event will move inside the BAC for the evening at 7 p.m. for music from Rebekah Todd and The Odyssey and the Phantom Playboys. Tickets for the evening events – available here – are $10 online and $15 at the door.

Staggered throughout the day and evening, New Anthem will release four new canned beers: Thowing Shade, steez, Five Thieves and Neon God. Meanwhile, at New Anthem’s Dock Street location, the brewery will crack open a cask of its Mole Stout – brewed with chocolate, cinnamon, and a blend of ancho and New Mexico chilies – saved for the occasion; New Anthem will also serve a beer brewed in collaboration with the Wrightsville Beach Brewery.

Skiles said he hopes that during the New Anthem Beer Project’s second year, the brewery can host additional music-based events.

The event is Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Brooklyn Arts Center, located at 516 N. 4th Street.
