KURE BEACH — Big changes are coming to Kure Beach in the form of a $5 million expansion and construction of new municipal buildings. The Kure Beach Town Council will hold a special meeting on Aug. 14, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the upcoming plans.
The improvement project will consist of renovations and expansion of Town Hall and the police and fire buildings as well as the construction of a new fire station. The current buildings were constructed in the 1990s.
“The improvement project is expected to begin in November and will require re-location of Administration, Finance, Building, Recreation and Police staffing and closing of the Town Hall and Police Building during construction,” according to a press release.
The new construction of a fire station is estimated at $3 million, and the expansion and renovations of the other facilities are expected to cost $2 million. Administration, finance, building, recreation and police personnel will be relocated during the construction while fire personnel will remain in their current location.
Construction is estimated to take 12 – 18 months until completion. Any person interested in attending the meeting may do so at Kure Beach Town Hall, 117 Settlers Lane, Kure Beach.
