
BATON ROUGE — Freshman Thao My Nguyen carded a five-over-par 147 to lead UNCW to a share of eighth place after the first two rounds at the LSU Tiger Classic at The University Club on Friday afternoon.
The Seahawks shot a pair of identical 301 team scores to earn a share of eighth place with Clemson, which also shot 301 in both team rounds. Duke, the No. 11 team in the GolfStat rankings, holds a 13-stroke lead over Oklahoma State after shooting rounds of 285 and 286.
Nguyen enters the final round in a tie for 13th place after posting a 74 in the first round followed by a one-over-par 73 in the second round.
Sophomore Ellinoora Moisio holds a piece of 29th place with a seven-over-par 151 through two rounds, including a 75 in the second round.
Juniors Lyberty Anderson and Kayla Thompson are tied for 39th place with identical eight-over-par scores. Anderson also carded a hole-in-one on the par-3 eighth hole during the second round.
Junior Alaina Yeatts rounded out the Seahawks’ efforts with an 18-over-par score through two rounds.

The Seahawks, who finished in ninth place in the tournament, fashioned a 300 team score in the third round, marking their best effort of the weekend.
Duke, which is No. 11 in the latest GolfStat rankings, parlayed a five-under-par effort in the final round into winning the team title by 18 strokes over Oklahoma State.
Anderson, who finished in a tie for 26th place, posted an eagle on the 14th hole in addition to recording a birdie on the fourth hole. She completed the tournament with a seven-over-par score of 223.
Freshman Thao My Nguyen claimed a share of 22nd place with a three-round score of 74-73-75=222 while junior Kayla Thompson followed in a tie for 34th place after posting a two-over-par 74 in the final round.
Sophomore Ellinoora Moisio earned a piece of 52nd place while junior Alaina Yeatts closed out the Seahawks’ contingent in 80th place.
The Seahawks will compete at the Clemson Invitational next weekend in their final tune-up before the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
