Leland man one of five co-defendants sentenced to prison for Hooker Road burglaries

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A Leland man pleaded guilty to several breaking and entering charges in connection with is role in several breaking and entering cases at homes on Hooker Road in Wilmington.

Deandre Vichon Graham, 25, pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of larceny, two counts of breaking and entering, breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, financial card theft and possession of burglary tools, according to a notice from District Attorney Ben David.

Graham and several other co-defendants in the case broke into three homes in the Hooker Road area on July 15, 2015. The Wilmington Police Department responded to a call at 3 a.m., when the victim called for help. The victim hid in the bathroom and stayed on the phone with a 911 dispatcher until police arrived at the scene.

Arriving officers spotted the suspects running out of the victim’s house. Four of the five suspects were arrested within several hours of the incident, near the location of the victim’s home. During the course of their investigation, police recovered property that had been stolen from two other homes that same evening.

Deandre Graham has previously been convicted of felony breaking and entering, selling or delivering heroin, and larceny of a motor vehicle. He also currently has pending charges in Duplin County for trafficking in opium and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Superior Court Judge W. Douglas Parsons sentenced the Graham to 86-116 months in the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

Other co-defendants in this case pleaded guilty and are currently serving active prison sentences.

Maurice Taylor, 32, pleaded guilty to all charges in the case in August and was sentenced to more than three years in prison, according to the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

Dadrian Robinson, 25, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary in March, and is serving an active prison sentence of 23-40 months. Donnell Bennerman pleaded guilty in February to all charges in the case and is serving 73-100 months in prison. Claude Burks, 26, is serving an active sentence of 23-40 months upon his plea to conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary.
