Got trash? Here are the services closed for the Thanksgiving holiday

SOUTHEASTERN, NC — Wondering what to do with you’re trash over the Thanksgiving holiday? Several trash services in the Cape Fear area are not providing services on Thursday, Nov. 24.

Wilmington

Trash collection in the City of Wilmington will not run on the Thanksgiving holiday. According to the city, trash will not be picked up on Thursday but Friday’s pick-up schedule will run as normal. City trash customers who normally have their trash and yard waste picked up on Thursdays are asked to have all items by the curbside on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

City recycling customers who are on the BLUE schedule and normally have their recycling collected on Thursday should place recycling containers at the curb on Wednesday, as well.

New Hanover County

In New Hanover County, the landfill located at 5210 U.S. Highway 421 N. will be closed on Thanksgiving day. The landfill be open on Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Brunswick County

Curbside garbage and recycling collection in Brunswick County on Thursday is rescheduled to Saturday, Nov. 26. The Brunswick County landfill will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The landfill will be open on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the convenient centers will also open on Saturday. The county’s solid waste office will close on Thursday and will reopen on Monday.

Pender County

Pender County’s solid waste convenience centers and transfer station will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Private haulers

Serviced by a private trash collection company? Trash customers served by Coastal Ladies Carting that have service on Thursday, are asked to place their “pink-trash” out by Friday evening for Saturday service. For customers with Waste Industries, Thursday’s trash collection will also run on Saturday. Go Eco Disposal’s recycling service will run again on Thursday, Dec. 1.
