
BRUNSWICK COUNTY — A Southport man faces more than two dozen charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl.
James Wayne Williams, 32, of Southport Supply Road in Southport, was arrested Friday afternoon following a brief investigation, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Emily Flax said. He has been charged with 21 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and two counts of statutory rape.
Williams is charged with several offenses that occurred with a 15-year-old female victim, Flax said. According to arrest warrants, the offenses allegedly occurred between April 1 and Aug. 31.
According to records with the Brunswick County Detention Facility, Williams was booked in jail at about 3:30 p.m. Friday. He is being held in jail under a $510,000 secured bond.
