A Brunswick man charged with breaking into his family members’ homes and trying to pawn off their property in Wilmington pleaded guilty this week in New Hanover County Superior Court.
Steven Anthony Callihan, 28, of Bolivia, pleaded guilty Monday to charges of four counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and one count of felony larceny, according to District Attorney Ben David.
Callihan was charged in 2014 for breaking into his family members’ homes and other businesses in Brunswick County and then pawning the property he stole in Wilmington, David said. He was also charged with larceny in connection with a stolen trailer and lawnmower from a Wilmington home in 2015.
“The underlying breaking and entering and larceny charges related to the 2014 case are still pending in Brunswick County,” David said. “In addition, on Feb. 26, 2016, Callihan was arrested on new charges of breaking and entering and larceny in Brunswick County, which are also still pending.”
Callihan was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Phyllis Gorham as a habitual felon and was ordered to serve 55-78 months in the N.C. Department of Corrections, as well as pay more than $2,400 in restitution.
