Gang violence not suspected in Saturday fatal shooting

stock image policeWilmington police have released the identities of two men who were shot Saturday evening in the Houston Moore Public Housing Community.

Andraes De’Quan Bryant, 26, of Leland, was found dead at the scene in the 1300 block of Greenfield Street at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, when police responded to a ShotSpotter alert, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

Another man – 24-year-old Travis Coneil Dixon, of Riegelwood – was also hit by gunfire and taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

Police have released few details about what took place during the shooting at the city public housing community on Saturday. But Lindsay said the shooting did not appear to be gang-related. No arrests have been made in connection with the case and the investigation is ongoing.
