Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating an afternoon shooting that sent one man to the hospital Saturday.
Police received a ShotSpotter activation in the Hillcrest community, 1402 Mears St., where multiple shots were fired at about 4 p.m. Saturday, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cpl. Leslie Irving.
Arriving officers found a black male in his early 30s who had been shot in his leg, Irving said. The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment. The injury was not considered life-threatening.
