Time to eight-step it in the sand and sunshine.
Shaggers will converge on the shoreline Saturday for the 30th annual Carolina Beach Music Festival, one of the country’s longest running of its kind, down in Pleasure Island.
Gates open at 10 a.m. for the all-day live music event. At 11, Gary Lowder and Smokin’ Hot will take the stage for a set, followed by regional beach music icon The Band of Oz at 1. The festivities wrap up with a closeout show from Jim Quick and Coastline from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
The music festival is presented each year by the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce. Coolers, beverages and food are allowed (no glass) onsite, but pets are not.

Music
Cameron Art Museum’s Concert in the Courtyard series continues with Lynne and the Wave from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved inside. Tickets are $8 for members and $12 for non-members ($5 for students with valid IDs).
The Downtown Sundown Concert Series gets underway Friday with a free performance from Girlz Girlz Girlz, a tribute to 80’s hair bands, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Riverfront Park. Beer, wine and food will be available for purchase. Concerts are held rain or shine.
Singer/songwriter David Dixon performs a free show from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday at Flytrap Brewing. Soulful Twist food truck will sling some local street food onsite from 7 to 10. On Saturday, Americana group L Shape Lot Duo performs for free at 8 p.m., with A & M’s Red Food Truck serving up tacos and sliders from 7 to 10.
American folk revivalists Steph Stewart and The Boyfriends takes the stage at Bourgie Nights Saturday, with opening act Rebekah Todd, who will be backed by a full band. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the music starts at 9:30. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 the day of the show.
Kure Beach’s Boogie in the Park free concert series continues Sunday with folk, Americana and bluegrass band The Midatlantic. Bring a beach chair or blanket and enjoy the music from 5-7 p.m. at Ocean Front Park.
Theater/Comedy
Cape Fear Shakespeare on the Green presents the Bard’s bawdy comedy, “All’s Well That Ends Well,” Friday through Sunday at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. each night and the play begins at 8. Admission is free.
The Juggling Gypsy hosts “Babel On: An Evening of Stand-up Comedy” at 8 p.m. Friday. Hosted by Reid Clark, this interactive show encourages audience participation. The performance includes “BabelOn Sessions,” a panel of local comedians discussing current events. Admission is $5.
Big Jay Oakerson takes the mic at Dead Crow Comedy Club this weekend. Oakerson has opened for comedian Dave Attel and has appeared on “Comedy Central Presents,” MTV and P. Diddy’s “Bad Boys of Comedy.” He performs at 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $14-$17.
Dead Crow Comedy Club presents Wilmington’s only live late night talk show, “Late Fear with Wills Maxwell,” at 11:55 p.m. Saturday. Recorded the first and third Saturday night, “Late Fear” is a showcase for Wilmington’s comedians, musicians and business owners. Admission is $5.
