This week in crime: South Carolina man, woman charged with armed robbery at Calabash pharmacy

A Wilmington man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery reported at a Princess Place home on Tuesday.

The armed robbery was reported at a home in the 1200 block of Princess Street at 8:25 p.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

A 51-year-old woman reported that her daughter’s friend was at the home when he pulled out a handgun in her living room and demanded prescription medication, Lindsay said. The man allegedly took the pills and left the home.

Police have charged Andre Maurice Tykeem Session, 19, of Wilmington, in connection with the robbery. According to jail records, he has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana. He was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Man robbed at Mayfaire parking lot

Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating an armed robbery reported at a parking lot in Mayfaire. The armed robbery was reported in the 6800 block of Main Street at 6:42 p.m. Feb. 16, according to Lindsay.

A 42-year-old man reported he was sitting in his vehicle when two back men walked up to the vehicle from the movie theater, Lindsay said.

One suspect approached the passenger side of the vehicle and the other approached the driver’s side. One of the suspects pointed a silver handgun and demanded the victim’s money and wallet, Lindsay said. The victim handed the suspects his wallet. The suspects then walked back toward the movie theater.

One suspect wore a red bandanna, a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The other suspect wore all black clothing and a Yankees hat.

Brunswick County

A South Carolina man and woman were arrested in connection with an armed robbery reported at a Calabash pharmacy on Wednesday.

Luther Stanley, 39, and Jennifer Hailey Moreland, 21, were charged in connection with an armed robbery reported at the CVS Pharmacy at 9810 Ocean Highway in Calabash at 9:30 a.m., according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Emily Flax.

A male suspect entered the store, threatened two people with a knife and demanded prescription medication, Flax said. The man ran out of the store and got into the passenger side of a silver Ford that was driven by a woman.

The two suspects–Stanley and Moreland, both of North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina–were arrested in the Myrtle Beach area Wednesday night, Flax said.

Stanley has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping and assault on a female.

According to an arrest warrant, Stanley is charged with threatening two pharmacy employees–a man and woman–with a steak knife and taking more than $3,900 worth of Oxycodone from the store. He is also charged with kidnapping and assault on the female employee by dragging her and pushing her to the ground.

Stanley was booked with the North Myrtle Beach Police Department on Wednesday and will face charges in South Carolina before he is transferred to Brunswick County, Flax said.

Moreland has been charged with aiding and abetting an armed robbery and misdemeanor child abuse. According to an arrest warrant, she is charged with having her child present in the vehicle during the armed robbery and not using the proper child restraints in the vehicle. According to Flax, the child was an infant boy.

Moreland was booked at the Brunswick County jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
