Officials with the Wilmington International Airport (ILM) announced Monday that the airport will offer additional nonstop flights to Atlanta and New York’s LaGuardia (LGA) beginning this week.

According to a news release from ILM, American Airlines will add an additional flight to LaGuardia beginning Feb. 12. Delta Airlines will add its sixth daily nonstop flight to Atlanta on May 1, and Delta will reinstate its nonstop service to LaGuardia on June 5.

“We know that convenience is very important to our passengers, and we are very pleased to announce this increase in service,” ILM Operations Director Gary Broughton said. “ILM’s current nonstop flights to LaGuardia and Atlanta average 80 percent load factors and we anticipate that the additional flights will provide a much-needed increase in available seats and departure options, particularly for our business travelers.”

The reinstatement of Delta’s nonstop flight to LaGuardia will increase service to New York to three daily nonstop flights, adding the early morning departure time back into the schedule. Beginning June 5, nonstop flights to LGA will have scheduled departure times of 6 a.m. (Delta), 10:55 a.m. (American) and 5:35 p.m. (American). The additional Delta flight to Atlanta will increase ILM’s nonstop service to Atlanta to six daily flights.

The Wilmington International Airport offers service on Delta Airlines and US Airways/American Airlines to four nonstop hubs, which allows for convenient domestic and international travel.
