Grammy Award-winning rapper Nelly is coming to the Port City in April.
Nelly will headline Friday night’s concert on the Miller Lite Main Stage at Cape Fear Community College as part of the 68th Annual North Carolina Azalea Festival, festival president Liz Carroll announced on Thursday.
“The festival has had a diverse range of musical talent grace its stages in the past. From Frank Sinatra, Al Green, Patti LaBelle to the Avett Brothers–almost every genre has been represented except for one,” Carroll said. “Now, it’s time the music came full circle to include a Grammy-winning rapper with some of the catchiest hits of this generation.”
Nelly will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Miller Lite Main Stage at Cape Fear Community College.
Tickets are $43.28. A special pre-sale begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on the Azalea Festival website, offering a discount of $2.50 per ticket. The sale continues online Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. Beginning Monday at 9 a.m., tickets will be sold at the festival office for full price.
Nelly is the second Grammy winner to be named as a performer in this year’s Azalea Festival. Alan Jackson will perform April 9 as part of his 25th anniversary tour.
