A man was injured in a shooting Wednesday when he was robbed while reportedly attempting to buy marijuana on Evans Street in Wilmington.
Officers responded a ShotSpotter alert at 6:07 p.m. Wednesday at 501 Evans St., but found the victim in the 3800 block of Princess Place Drive, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley.
The victim told police he was on Evans Street attempting to buy marijuana when four to five black men ran up behind the alleged dealer, Rawley said. The suspects robbed the man at gunpoint and began shooting at him.
The man was shot in the thigh and buttocks, Rawley said. Information about the victim’s condition was not immediately available.
