Five arrested on drug charges in Brunswick County

Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested several people on drug charges.

Joseph Wayne Everhart, 32, of Westbrook Road in Ocean Isle Beach, was arrested Friday. He was charged with felony possession of cocaine; possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce; possession of drug paraphernalia; trafficking in opium or heroin; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance; and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Emily Flax.

Detectives seized more than 28 grams of opium as well as more than 100 dosage units each of Oxycodone–a schedule II controlled substance– and Diazepam – a schedule IV controlled, according to warrants.

Everhart was taken to the Brunswick County jail and placed under a $750,000 secured bond.

Three others from Southport were also arrested Friday.

“These arrests stemmed from multiple community tips and complaints,” Flax said.

Drew Trevor Brice, 29, of East Leonard Street in Southport, was charged with possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin. According to warrants, detectives seized 32 bindles of heroin.

Brice was taken to the Brunswick County jail and placed under a $15,000 bond.

Doris Ann Brice, 49, also of East Leonard Street in Southport, arrested and charged with maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. She was taken to the Brunswick County jail and later released on a $5,000 bond.

Terrell Jamal Pompey, 25, of North Lord Street in Southport was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in jail under a $20,000.00 bond.

On Thursday, detectives arrested a Leland man on drug charges involving cocaine, Flax said.

Antonio Green, 35, of King Road in Leland, was charged with four counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, manufacturing cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Brunswick County jail and placed under a $260,000 secured bond.
