Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery reported in May.
Uriel Anderson, 33, of Wilmington, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury on Thursday, according to police spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. He was charged in connection with an armed robbery and assault reported May 14 in the area of Third and Orange streets.
Officers responded to the area following a 911 call from a witness, Lindsay said. A woman stated she observed a man hitting another man with a stick.
Minutes later, the victim was found standing by a Second Street bus station, Lindsay added. The 46-year-old victim stated that a man walked up to him and assaulted him with an oak tree limb. The suspect then took money from the victim’s pocket and left the area.
The victim reportedly had blood on his head and hands. He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
