A day after explosions rattled downtown Wilmington, the war that has come to Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow” is invading the prestigious Cape Fear Club today.
Just blocks away from Orange Street, where scenes involving propane blasts, fire effects and demolished cars turned plenty of heads Wednesday, the secretive club—the oldest men’s social club in North Carolina, according to a marker in front of the building—plays host to interior and exterior scenes today.

While set crews moved the last of the burnt-out cars from the foot of Orange Street yesterday, another team was busy setting up at the club at the corner of Second and Chestnut streets, where equipment trucks were parked early Wednesday evening.
A permit filed with the city describes a scene in which two characters “respond to an emergency call and discover an old enemy.” The permit indicates filming will involve both interior and exterior shots, with rapid-fire prop gunfire and prop grenade blast noise involved in the interior scenes. Exterior shots will involve a horse running on Chestnut.

Four cast members, 10 extras and up to 100 crew members are slated to be on set. Filming was scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and continue overnight until 4 a.m. Friday.
After 8 p.m., Chestnut will be closed to traffic between Front and Third streets, while Second will be closed between Chestnut and Princess.
Intermittent traffic control could occur on Chestnut between Front and Third and on Second between Princess and Grace Street. The permit states traffic control will be used as much as possible in place of street closures to allow for traffic flow.
The production has also requested control of the traffic signal at Chestnut and Second.
“Sleepy Hollow” is filming its second season for Fox. The season premiere is set to air Sept. 22.
