The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit arrested five people on drug charges at a license checkpoint in Shallotte.
Agents were conducting the checkpoint at Old Shallotte Road and McMilly Road on Saturday, July 19, at about 7:30 p.m. when the arrests were made, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Emily Flax. According to warrants, detectives seized 89 bags of heroin and 8 grams of cocaine, oxycodone pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a .38 caliber revolver.
All five people were in one vehicle, Flax said.
Delonne Watts, 25, of Longwood, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana up to a half ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and manufacturing cocaine. He was taken to the Brunswick County jail and placed under a $250,000 secured bond.
Jarvis Alonzo Davis, 34, of Wilmington, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, manufacturing cocaine, simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was taken to jail and placed under a $100,000 secured bond.
Aveon Lasha Slappy, Steven Thomas Hansford, III, and Bradley Christopher Griffin Jr., were charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, manufacturing cocaine, simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Slappy, 19, of Bolivia, was taken to the Brunswick County jail and placed under a $6,000 bond. Hansford, 25, of Columbus County, was released from the Brunswick County jail on a $5,000 bond. Griffin, 29, of Longwood, was released from the Brunswick County jail on a $30,000 bond.
