Man assaulted during armed robbery on Park Avenue

A man was assaulted during an armed robbery at his home Thursday evening.

A man was sitting on the front porch of his Park Avenue apartment at about 10:40 p.m. when two black men approached him from the side of his apartment, according to police spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. One of the men displayed a silver handgun and “told the victim to ‘give it up,'” Lindsay said.

The victim told the men he had nothing and one of the men hit him in the face with a gun. The men took the victim’s wallet while he was on the ground. The victim stated he was knocked out but was later able to get up and run into the apartment to tell his roommate what happened. When the roommate went downstairs, he saw two men in the living room.

The men ran out the door when they saw the victim’s roommate, Lindsay said. The vehicle reported at the robbery was a light blue Lincoln with large rims, Lindsay said.

The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
