A school bus accident in Brunswick County Monday afternoon sent several students and the driver to the hospital.
According to school district spokeswoman Jessica Swencki, the accident occurred in the area of N.C. 211 and Midway Road. The bus was carrying 42 students from South Brunswick Middle and High schools in Southport, she said.
Swencki did not have any details regarding how the accident occurred, and Oak Island police, who responded to the scene, were unavailable for comment.
Seven students, along with the driver, sustained minor injuries and were immediately taken to Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport.
The uninjured students were taken back to their schools to await parent pick-up.
