It’s Masonboro’s turn to talk about Wilmington’s future.
That neighborhood, in the city’s southeast, is next in the local government’s comprehensive planning series, with a community meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Parsley Elementary School (3518 Masonboro Loop Road).
City of Wilmington planners will be on hand to hear residents likes, dislikes and big ideas for the Masonboro neighborhood.
“Participants will receive information about the Masonboro area’s demographic and socioeconomic standings, including pending changes that will impact their neighborhoods,” said a city bulletin. “For example, by 2017, the population in the Masonboro area is expected to increase 29 percent, and the number of citizens ages 65 and older is expected to go up 41 percent through 2017.”
It’s one of 12 neighborhood meetings in a series the city kicked off last year, all in the development of a long-term, comprehensive plan to guide the city’s growth in the coming decades.
After Masonboro, the city will head to the Chestnut Heights-Princess Place area with a meeting March 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Snipes Academy, 2150 Chestnut St.
