Wilmington police are investigating several robberies that occurred over the weekend. According to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley, the following incidents were reported Sept. 6-9:
- On Friday, Sept. 6, a breaking and entering and larceny occurred at 8:13 p.m. in the 3100 block of Market Street. Officers responded to an alarm activation at the Ivy Cottage. Police did not find anyone inside the store. Officers believe a small amount of cash was taken from the register.
- On Sunday, Sept. 8, an attempted armed robbery occurred at 5:25 p.m. on Rutledge Drive. The victim reported he was walking home from the store when he was approached by a white male. The suspect asked the victim for $5 but the victim stated he didn’t have any money. The suspect pulled out a gun and said he would shoot him in the leg if the victim did not give him the cash. Police are searching for a white male between the ages of 17 and 19 years old. The suspect was riding a blue beach cruiser bike. The suspect was not recognized by the victim or witnesses.
- On Sunday, Sept 8, an armed robbery occurred at 4:26 p.m. on Market Street. Police spoke to a victim who reported he went to a room at the Budgetel Inn to get money from two female friends. While standing outside of the hotel room door, a black male came out of the room and pointed a .357 handgun at him. The suspect then took two televisions and left in an unknown direction. The suspect left the scene in an older model jeep.
