A Rocky Point man indicted on several charges in connection with the July 4 boating wreck that killed his girlfriend made his first appearance in New Hanover County Superior Court today.
Larry Scott Duncan, 44, has been indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter, operating a boat while impaired (BWI) and reckless operation of a vessel, according to District Attorney Ben David. He was indicted on the charges Monday.
The indictments stem from a July 4 boating wreck on the northeast Cape Fear River that killed 37-year-old Jennifer Lee Faircloth.
During Duncan’s first appearance, Special Superior Court Judge William R. Pittman ruled that Duncan’s bond remain at a $25,000 unsecured bond as set by the county magistrate prior to the hearing. He requested a court appointed attorney.
