SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Port City Daily, WECT, and WHQR Public Media is coming together to host two forums this week in Brunswick and New Hanover counties.

On Feb. 12, Republican and Democratic candidates for the New Hanover County School Board of Education will take part in separate forums at WHQR Gallery, 254 N. Front St.

Both forums are free and begin at 6 p.m., to help inform voters on issues facing the counties and where the candidates stand regarding them.

WECT’s Jon Evans will moderate the forums and reporters from all three outlets will take turns asking questions. The public is welcome to attend and can also submit their own inquiries for consideration here.

The media consortium gathered last week to host a forum for the New Hanover County Democratic commissioner candidates who will appear on the primary ballot; it can be viewed here.

In-person early voting for the 2026 Primary Election begins on Feb. 12 and concludes Feb. 28. Primary Election Day is March 3.
