
BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Four men were arrested and more than 100 grams of cocaine and a handgun were seized following a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office vice and narcotics operation on Jan. 15.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies conducted multiple traffic stops in connection with an investigation into suspected cocaine distribution.

Deputies found cocaine in two vehicles and a firearm, described as a black semiautomatic pistol, in another. Authorities said a juvenile was present in one vehicle during an alleged narcotics transaction.
The men arrested in connection with the investigation face the following charges:
- William Hemingway, 50, of Winnabow: two counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Lawrence Jones, 41, of Winnabow: two counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
- Okey Palmore II, 41, of Wilmington: maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, and misdemeanor child abuse.
- Lamont Burst, 51, of Leland: maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine.
All four men are scheduled to appear for probable cause hearings on Feb. 5 at the Brunswick County Courthouse.
