SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Job workshops and hiring events are scheduled throughout the tri-county region offering positions in a number of fields.
The Cape Fear Workforce Development Board has partnered with NCWorks and employers to create opportunities to improve job search skills and put them to use.
Professional workshops will be held throughout August for job seekers to create professional, polished resumes and interview skills. Participants will have the chance to practice interviewing and answer tough questions.
The schedule for workshops are as follows:
- Creating a Standout Resume: Aug. 8, 10 a.m., NCWorks Shallotte; Aug. 14, 12:30 p.m., NCWorks Shallotte; Aug. 21, 2 p.m., NCWorks Shallotte; Aug. 28, 12:30 p.m., NCWorks Shallotte
- Interview Preparation: Aug. 9, 10 a.m., NCWorks Wilmington; Aug. 23, 10 a.m., NCWorks Wilmington
- Career Reality Check: Aug. 9, 12:30 p.m., NCWorks Shallotte; Aug. 16, 12:30 p.m., NCWorks Shallotte; Aug. 23, 12:30 p.m. viz Zoom; Aug. 30, 12:30 p.m., NCWorks Shallotte
- Resume Building: Aug. 10, 10 a.m. via WebEx

- Modern Resume Creation: Aug. 16, 10 a.m., NCWorks Wilmington; Aug. 29, 11 a.m., Burgaw Library; Aug. 30, 11 a.m., CFCC Surf City; Aug. 31, 10 a.m., Creation Willard Outreach Community Center
There are also several hiring events that each run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hiring managers from various departments will be on site at each event, offering interviews immediately.
- Novant Health: Aug. 8, 9 and 10
- NCWorks Shallotte: Aug. 8
- Novant Health Pender Medical Center Burgaw: Aug. 9
- NCWorks Wilmington: Aug. 10
Also on Aug. 8 at NCWorks Wilmington, there will be a multi-career expo with employers from several industries, nonprofits, and government organizations. Participants can meet with employers and have their resumes reviewed by skilled career advisors.
A special senior hiring event will take place in Brunswick County on Aug. 15 focusing on job openings for individuals with extensive life experience. Career Advisors will be on hand to assist with the application process, review resumes and discuss training opportunities to upskill those who already have extensive experience in the workplace.
A veteran’s hiring event is planned for Aug. 22 in New Hanover County, open to the public but geared toward employers who seek to hire veterans when possible.
