An Atlanta-based party band has been pegged to headline Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation’s annual end-of-summer celebration.
We Got the Beat will bring its high-energy mix of decade-spanning cover tunes – from Pharell and Bruno Mars to The Jackson 5 and Marvin Gaye – to this year’s Last Chance for White Pants Gala, event organizers announced this week.
The third annual gala, which has quickly become a major fundraiser for Lower Cape Fear Hospice (LCFH), is set for 7 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Aug. 27. It will return this time around to its 2015 location, the modern, window-lined Audi Cape Fear dealership at 255 Old Eastwood Road.
“We’re excited to have We Got the Beat for this year’s gala,” LCFH development manager Lindsey Champion said. “They are a dynamic band with a unique sound, which is due in part to dual lead vocalists.”
Even better than foot-stomping energy, Champion added, was the band’s enthusiasm to help out with a hospice fundraiser.

Proceeds from the gala help LCFH continue its mission of providing free end-of-life care, individualized attention and support services to patients and their families throughout southeastern North Carolina, as well as in Horry County in South Carolina.
Last Chance for White Pants – a tongue-in-cheek nod to the age-old fashion no-no that signified the start of fall – has been well-received since the onset, annually drawing crowds of more than 500.
Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased in advance online or by calling (910) 796-8099 ext. 6. For more information or sponsorship opportunities, contact Champion, (910) 796-0847, or Lindsey.Champion@lcfh.org.
