The Wilmington Sharks (2-3, 16-16) pounded 17 hits in a 10-2 win Tuesday night over the Florence Redwolves.
Five Sharks had multi-hit games as Cody Dolan and Andrew Amaro each had three hits apiece. D.J. Thomas picked up the victory on the mound after allowing just one run on four hits over six innings.
Dolan drove in the first run of the ball game in the bottom of the first, and Alex Freedman scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Florence answered with a score in the second, but Wilmington broke the game open in the bottom half of the third inning, with four runs on three hits, highlighted by Zach Stephens, who drove in two with a double to right.
Stephens did it again in the bottom of the fifth as he hit a two-run home run over the left center field fence, his fourth of the year, to give the Sharks an 8-1 lead. Dylan Bosheers put the game away for good in the seventh with his first long ball of the year, a two-run blast over the wall in left-center.
The Sharks take on the Morehead City Marlins at home Wednesday with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
