The Wilmington Hammerheads hit the road Thursday for their first round playoff match up at Richmond. The local soccer club clinched the fifth spot in the postseason with a victory on the final night of the regular season against Charlotte. Six teams make it into the United Soccer League playoffs. Hammerheads Head Coach David Irving stopped by the studios prior to the bus trip to give us his perspective on the match. “It all comes down to one game, and whoever win moves on” Coach Irving said. “I believe we have a good a chance as any to get into the finals.”
The Hammerheads faced Richmond three times during the regular season and finished two and one in the series. Both wins came at home while their only loss to the Kickers was in Virginia. Their quarterfinal matchup is set for Saturday night at 7pm at City Stadium in Richmond.
