WILMINGTON — The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College has announced Tommy James and the Shondells will perform at CFCC’s Wilson Center on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 7 p.m.

Tommy James is one of the most air-played and artist-covered musicians alive, and is still regularly touring the country after more than half a century of milestone successes in the music industry.

James has sold over 100 million records worldwide, and is well known for many Top 40 Hits, including “Crimson and Clover,” “Mony Mony,” “Hanky Panky,” “I Think We’re Alone Now,” and “Draggin’ the Line.” James’ music can be heard in 55 films and 39 TV shows, and in numerous commercials to date. He is the recipient of the BMI Five Million-Air Award in honor of his music being played more than 21 million times on American radio.

Tommy James and the Shondells originate from classic American rock band roots that began in Niles, Michigan in 1964. Over the years, the group evolved in format and genre, and prominently entered the psychedelic scene with the release of the landmark “Crimson and Clover” album.

In the 1980s, hits from James’ songbook became chart topping covers for Tiffany (“I Think We’re Alone Now”), and Billy Idol (“Mony Mony”). An eclectic array of musicians has covered, and continues to cover, James’ songs, including Prince, Bruce Springsteen, REM, Dolly Parton, and even the Boston Pops.

In addition to touring and releasing new music, James can be heard on Sunday evenings hosting his popular SiriusXM Radio “Gettin’ Together with Tommy James.” James’ bestselling autobiography, “Me, The Mob and the Music” is on the Rolling Stone’s “Top 25 Best Music Memoirs List,” and is being turned into both a feature film and a Broadway play.

Tickets will be available online to Wilson Center Members on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale online and in person to the general public on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 10 a.m.
