Maryland man found dead in CB waters, no foul play suspected

CAROLINA BEACH — An out-of-state man was found dead off the shores of Carolina Beach Monday morning.

Around 11:54 a.m., crews from the Carolina Beach Police Department, Carolina Beach Fire Department and New Hanover County EMS were dispatched to the beach strand in the area of Seagull Lane in reference to a person found unresponsive in the water.

First responders were able to pull the male from the water and begin life-saving measures, which were unsuccessful. The victim was identified as 59-year-old Steven Samuel Lehner from Germantown, Maryland.

The investigation is ongoing but no foul play is suspected.
