
WILMINGTON — A vehicle involved in a hit-and-run Sunday evening has yet to be located by local law enforcement.

Wilmington Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Dawson Street for an accident involving a sedan and a pedestrian around 9 p.m. When officers arrived, they located the victim, identified as 58-year-old Charles Boyd Thomas Jr., who was severely injured.
EMS arrived and transported Thomas to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The car that struck Thomas fled the scene. The vehicle is being described as a four-door blue sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, missing two front hub caps. It also has damage to the front right corner and windshield.
The incident is still under investigation by WPD’s traffic unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 910-343-3609 or use the anonymous Tip 411 app.
