WILMINGTON—Uber Eats has launched in the Wilmington area, with over 40 restaurants already on board. From Sweet n Savory to McDonald’s, Wilmington residents can now order a wide variety of meals delivered, all through an app on their phone.

Uber Eats operates similarly to Uber, except instead of you getting a ride, your food gets a ride. With the application downloaded, people can thumb through restaurant menus and preview estimated delivery times.
Customers place their orders through the app with a credit card on file, and an Uber partner will pick up the food via car, scooter or bike. The food is then delivered to the customer.
“UberEATS offers local restaurants a reliable delivery option, effectively expanding their capacity and reach to be able to service a whole new network of potential customers,” Carly DeBeikes, an Uber representative wrote in an email.
The service will deliver food to most all addresses located within New Hanover County. Uber Eats charges a $4.99 “booking fee” in addition to the total cost of the meal.
