Lacrosse has grown leaps and bounds across the Wilmington area over the past decade and 12-year-old Brodie Deutsch is a prime example of how the sport is developing into a favorite past time for generations to come.

The Murray Middle school student recently returned from a national event with the Cape Fear Shamrocks as he and his family traveled to Tampa, Florida during the Christmas break for the tournament. His best moment on the field came in Richmond, Virginia, when he battled one-on-one in sudden death overtime, ultimately winning the braveheart face off and going down field for the game-winning goal to put the Shamrocks in the championship match.
When Brodie’s not going coast-to-coast netting game winners on the lacrosse field, he’s suiting up for the Pleasure Island Soccer Association Travel Hurricanes on the soccer pitch or knocking down jump shots in the local Halo Hoops league.
Beyond his years when it comes to appetite, Deutsch enjoys sushi. His dad, Max, is a big motivator and his favorite coach. Brodie also likes to watch A.J. Green snag touchdowns on Sundays for his favorite team, the Cincinnati Bengals.

Most memorable experience on the field/court: In the semi-finals in Richmond, VA at a lacrosse tournament, we ended in a tie and in order to break the tie, we had to go to sudden death OT called Braveheart. Braveheart is a one on one battle with someone from the opposing team. I was chosen by my coach to take the Braveheart. We faced off and when the whistle blew, I won the face-off, ran down the field and scored to put my team in the Championship game!
