A Disney Channel up-and-comer is this year’s Azalea Festival celebrity.
“Tween” idol Calum Worthy will be in town for the 2014 festival, set for April 9 through 13.
Worthy rose to stardom in his role as goofy video director and Austin Moon’s best friend, Dez, in Disney’s hit show “Austin and Ally.”
Now he is entertaining children and youth in his new gig on “The Coppertop Flop Show”– a series of shorts that runs between shows on the Disney Channel.
Last year, Calum hosted “Monstober,” a month-long Halloween celebration, for Disney. The Canadian-born actor actually got his start at the age of nine on Fox’s “Night Visions.” He has since appeared in more than 50 television and film projects in five countries, including “The Big Year,” starring Steve Martin.
He has won two Young Artist Awards for Leading Young Actor and a Leo Award in Canada for Leading Actor.
