WILMINGTON — Mary Margaret Nunn, born on August 16, 1960, in Buchanan County, VA, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, in Brunswick County, NC, at the age of 65. Her life was a testament to love, creativity, and unwavering dedication.
Mary spent much of her teenage years at the YMCA in Bluefield, WV, lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons, where she nurtured her passion for swimming and shared it with others. These early experiences instilled in her a lifelong commitment to helping those around her.
Mary dedicated her professional life to the field of healthcare as a Medical Lab Technologist. Her attention to detail and compassion made her an invaluable member of the medical community. Her colleagues admired her expertise and her patients benefited from her kind heart.
Mary’s Christian faith was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life. Her spiritual beliefs guided her actions and her interactions with everyone she met.
Her creative spirit shone through in her love for crafts, art, and thrifting. She believed that beauty could be found in the simplest of things and shared this perspective with those lucky enough to know her. Her artistic endeavors were not just hobbies but expressions of her vibrant soul.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Joann Boyd Lowe, and her brother Carl David Lowe, Mary’s legacy lives on through her cherished family. She is survived by her children, Dr. James Nunn (Rebecca), Charlotte Brown (Jeffrey), and Alice Nunn. Her grandchildren, Isabelle Nunn, Jayden Lance, Gavin Lance, and Abigail Kerr, will continue to carry forward her spirit of love and kindness.
Mary also leaves behind her siblings, brother William Lowe and sisters Nancy Hopkins and Sarah Lewis, who will remember her as a guiding light full of warmth and generosity.
In honor of Mary’s life, a celebration will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to share memories and celebrate the incredible woman she was.
While Mary Margaret Nunn is no longer with us, her inspirational legacy will continue to illuminate the paths of those she leaves behind.
