[Update: Due to weather, the planned traffic shift for N.C. 211 and all associated detours will now begin on the evening of Friday, July 17.]
OAK ISLAND – The North Carolina Department of Transportation is planning to shift traffic on N.C. Highway 211 between N.C. Highway 133 (Long Beach Road) and Woodedge Way in Brunswick County this week.
On the night of July 16, weather permitting, traffic pattern modifications will occur at the following locations:
- – All traffic will shift onto the newly constructed future westbound lanes of N.C. 211
- – Westbound N.C. 211 travelers will use a new ramp and traffic signal to access N.C. 906 (Midway Road or Middleton Boulevard). Westbound traffic will not access the existing signal.
- – Eastbound N.C. 211 travelers will access N.C. 906 at the existing signal.
The Regency Crossing entrance to St. James will be closed for 30 days following the traffic shift. St. James internal traffic should detour to the St. James Drive entrance.
Signed, temporary access points will be in place for residences and businesses in the following areas south of the highway:
- – Between Pinetop Drive and Pine Plantation Parkway West
- – Trace Drive near N.C. 133
