WILMINGTON — George Thomas Madison, age 60, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, passed away on June 29, 2026. Born on November 16, 1965, in Newport News, Virginia, George lived a life full of love, humor, and service to others.
George was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was very intelligent and could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything. Each day he made a “To Do list” and on that list would be someone he needed to check on. His attitude was, “Your problem is my opportunity to help you.” He required very little for himself but gave his all to family and friends. His faith was the foundation of his life and his purpose was to encourage others. He loved and was deeply loved by all who knew him.
George graduated from UNC Wilmington in 1991 with a BS in Finance. Professionally, he built a respected career as a North Carolina real estate appraiser. Outside of work, he found joy in playing golf and cheering on Carolina basketball. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his family and friends, creating memories that will last forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Preceded in death by his father, Charles Luther Madison, George is survived by his mother, Sue Fallenstein Madison of Shallotte; the mother of his children, Gennie Madison of Ocean Isle Beach; his beloved children, Taylor Madison of Shallotte, Brandon Madison of Raleigh, Allie Madison of Denver, CO and Katie Madison of Ocean Isle Beach. He was a proud grandfather to Graham Thomas Fullerton.
He is also survived by his brother, Charlie Madison of Alexandria, VA; his sister, Anita Langin of Ocean Isle Beach; his nephews Michael Langin of Ocean Isle Beach and Christopher Langin of Elizabethton, TN; and stepmother, Diane Madison of Ocean Isle Beach. In addition, George leaves behind numerous close aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a fund established at Shallotte United Bank to assist George’s daughter, Katie, as she completes her college education.
