WILMINGTON — Janice Philipps, 84, of Wilmington, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2026.
Born April 29, 1941, in the city she always called home, Janice lived a life centered on family and quiet devotion. She worked for many years as the store manager at Johnnie Mercer’s Pier, greeting countless people with her warm smile and steady presence.
She is survived by her sons: Charles Philipps (Deborah), Chris Philipps (Maggie), and Robert Bigouette (Liz); her brother James Chadwick (Donna); her cherished grandchildren Devin, Twyla, Vance, Leyna, Breck, Karl, Alex, Kasey, and Sarah; and four beloved great-grandchildren.
Janice was preceded in death by her devoted husband of many years, Karl Philipps; her parents, Florence Robbins Chadwick and Richard Chadwick; and her sister, Patricia Chadwick.
Above all, Janice will be remembered for her deep love for her family. A humble, gentle soul, she found simple pleasures in her daily crossword puzzles and in the enduring companionship of her lifetime best friend, Janet.
