WILMINGTON — Dwayne Mikeal Wilcher, known to friends and family as “Nature” or “Big Mike” was born on April 21, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland.

He passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026 at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer. He died surrounded by his family, whose hearts ache at his passing, but find comfort knowing he is at peace, pain free, and resting in the arms of his Lord and Savior.

Mikeal was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Wilcher also known as “Jenny”.

He is survived by his farther, Robert Wilcher also known as “Bobby” and his brother Sean Wilcher (Nat) also known as “Dave”. Mikeal is also survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon, and their their three children, Michael Showers (Cindy), Geneva Gernert (Charles) and Christopher Pamplin (Tori). He was a grandfather to nine wonderful grandchildren; Makayla, Elijah, Ethan, Luna, Ava, Colby, Maddie, Harley, and Timmy. He also had three beautiful great grandchildren; Benjamin, Malayah, and Dakota.

Mikeal served his country and loved taking time to honor all other veterans and soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. He loved riding his motorcycle, especially with friends and fellow veterans of the Nam Knights. Mikeal was truly a free spirit who loved life and always had a song to sing. Those who knew him best knew he had a big heart, There was not a hateful bone in his body and he would give you the shirt off his back. He was a peacemaker, and a person that plainly and simply loved people and never met a stranger. He will be missed!

There will be a celebration of life on May 2, 2026 at Wilmington First Pentecostal Holiness Church 2901 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC. Family and friends gather at 11:00 am with the service at 12:00 noon.
