WILMINGTON — Connie Laughinghouse Nelson passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Connie was born in New Bern, North Carolina to the late Edna Jones and William Vernon Laughinghouse.
In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her son, Kevin Riggs, her stepson, Scottie Nelson and her sister, Carol Norris.
She is survived by her husband Scott Nelson, her brother Billy Laughinghouse and her nephew Glenn Heath.
In keeping with Connie’s loving and generous spirit, it was her decision to give the gift of life through organ donation. There will be no formal service, but the family encourages you to celebrate Connie’s life by sharing compassion towards every person you meet and every creature you encounter.
Connie’s family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff in the ICU at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
