HAMPSTEAD — Joseph Stephen Flowers, Sr., born on May 26, 1948, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Hampstead, North Carolina, at the age of 77.

He married the love of his life Kathy Conner. Together, they raised three children and built a life rooted in love, laughter and commitment to each other. His life was a testament to perseverance, dedication, and above all love.

A graduate and proud quarterback of Bartow High School, Steve carried his passion for teamwork beyond the field into his professional career. He excelled as a Sales Representative and later as the Vice President of International Operations for Lanier Business Products earning respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.

Steve found joy in simple pleasures: the warmth of family gatherings, the camaraderie of friends, and the tranquility of a golf course. Above all, he cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Steve’s legacy of kindness and determination lives on through those he loved and who loved him.

A member of Hampstead United Methodist Church, Steve’s faith guided him through life’s challenges and triumphs. His generous spirit and unwavering belief in service inspired everyone around him.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Hardie Allen Flowers and Lois Thorne Flowers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Katherine Conner Flowers; their daughters Heather Flowers Greene and husband Steve of Charlotte, NC; and Nicole Flowers of Hampstead, NC; and their son, Joseph “Stephen” Flowers, Jr. of Wilmington, NC; his brother Fred Flowers of Shelby, NC; sister Janie Williams of Radford, VA; and grandchildren Conner and Nora Greene ; Isabella, Chloe, and Dylan Flowers. Steve also leaves behind his beloved dachshunds, Honey and Ginger.
