SOUTHPORT — Michael Steven “Mike” Winebar, 75 of Southport, North Carolina passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2026.
Mike was born November 22, 1950, son of the late Royal F. Winebar and Nell Jones. He was a lifelong resident of the Wilmington and Southport area. Mike served in the US Navy, was a Master Mason, a member of the Pythagoras Lodge, had been a Southport Police Officer, and retired from New Hanover County as an Occupational Safety Director. He was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed surfing, hunting, fishing, and golfing with his children, grandchildren, and his Wingman John.
He is survived by his three children, Michael Shane Winebar, Jennifer Tuttle and husband Curtis, and Amanda Lumsden and husband Treve; five grandchildren, Caitlin Tuttle, Cameron Winebar, Evan Winebar, Treve Lumsden, and Davis Lumsden; a brother, John Winebar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ludlum Winebar.
