James Michael Davis (Atlantic Cremation Services)

ROCKY POINT — James Michael Davis, 74, known to his friends and family as Mike, passed away peacefully at his home on February 6, 2026, in Rocky Point, North Carolina.

Born on July 14, 1951, Mike spent his early years living in Sneads Ferry until age four, when his family moved to Wilmington in 1955. He was the son of the late William O. “W.O.” Davis and Sally Davis.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Cindy—the love of his life; his son, James Davis of Garner, N.C; grandchildren Christian and Joshua; his brother Johnny Davis and wife Kay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his only sister, Marion Ann Cribb; and his brother Buddy Breece (Linda).

A man of deep and unwavering faith, Mike’s greatest hope rested in Jesus Christ. For the past 15 years, he faithfully attended a weekly home Bible study group, where he cherished the attendees as his true home church family.

Mike spent most of his working life in residential and commercial framing, with a special expertise in hanging doors. He and Cindy shared a love for fishing and camping, family cookouts (though he preferred they not run too long), Thanksgivings at Johnny and Kay’s, and collecting gadgets—especially flashlights and knives.

Known for his strong distrust of government overreach and his belief in self-reliance and preparedness, Mike enjoyed lively discussions about politics and conspiracy theories, which he never dismissed as mere speculation. Yet he remained well-informed and grounded, always affirming that his ultimate hope lay in his Savior, Jesus Christ.

The moment Mike left this earth was the moment he entered glory. While we grieve his absence, we find comfort in imagining the joy he now experiences in the presence of his Lord. He will forever remain in our hearts and will be deeply missed.
